Émile Tessier Fleur-de-Lys Pitcher

A testament to the purity of provincial French design, this beautiful faïence pitcher (pichet) was crafted at the historic Faïencerie d'Art de Malicorne under the direction of master ceramist Émile Tessier.

Known for elevating traditional Sarthe pottery through exquisite sculptural detailing, Tessier finished this vessel in his signature luminous white tin-glaze. The bulbous body is decorated with high-relief applied fleur-de-lys motifs and delicate floral medallions, separated by a distinct beaded band around the collar.

Measuring 20 centimeters in height, the piece is finished with a stunning *anse torsadée*—a hand-formed, twisted rope handle that requires immense skill to execute without fracturing in the kiln. The unglazed base bears the hand-painted "ET" cipher, confirming its authenticity. It is a quietly elegant vessel, perfect for serving or styling with seasonal stems.
