The Heritage Note

Sourced from the historic Gard region, this exceptional woven ceramic corbeille (basket) is a masterclass in artisanal patience. Crafted by the legendary Maison Pichon in Uzès—a family-run pottery studio established in 1802—this piece showcases their iconic "terre tressée" technique.

To create this intricate lattice, artisans painstakingly hand-extrude and braid individual ribbons of clay, finishing the intersections with delicate, hand-applied floral rosettes. The basket is enveloped in a rich, highly reflective amber glaze that pools beautifully in the woven crevices, offering an incredible depth of color that perfectly captures the golden light of a provincial autumn.

Measuring 22.5 centimeters wide and 13 centimeters tall, it rests on a graceful pedestal foot. It carries the incised Pichon Uzès signature on the base and exhibits gentle interior wear—a quiet, beautiful hallmark of its authentic history and mid-century provenance.
